pasystray software package provides PulseAudio controller for the system tray, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pasystray
pasystray is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pasystray package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pasystray *
You will get with pasystray package name, version, architecture and description in a table
